Blessed Are Those Who Mourn
Blessed Are Those Who Mourn
“God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted” (Matthew 5:4). The beauty of this beatitude is that it gives us permission to grieve and mourn the brokenness in our world. We can (and should) fully enter into the grief that we all experience in life. Whether it’s a diagnosis we didn’t expect or sin in our lives, when we mourn, we experience the comfort of God. We don’t need to hide from our grief or pretend it isn’t there, we can honestly reveal our pain to God and to others. God responds by bringing comfort with His presence. The reality of my pain is met with the reality of His presence.
