Confused Mind
Confused Mind
The book of Daniel is set in ancient Babylon. Though Babylon is a location, it also represents a mindset. This mindset began in the Garden of Eden when Satan tempted Eve to sin against God which led to confusion and self-centeredness. In Daniel 4, King Nebuchadnezzar writes of how God confronted his pride. He had a mysterious dream which he relayed to Daniel. After some hesitation, Daniel told Nebuchadnezzar what the dream meant (4:19–27). Nebuchadnezzar had grown proud, believing the kingdom of Babylon was built by his own great power. Nebuchadnezzar chose to ignore the clear warning given to him in the dream and brought disaster on himself. Nebuchadnezzar’s pride led to his downfall, but God was ready to restore him. God is ready to restore us as well when we acknowledge His rule and authority. The only king is the King of kings.
