I AM the Resurrection and the Life

This week we examine Jesus’ statement, “I AM the resurrection and the life” (John 11:25). In John 11, we see the humanity and deity of Jesus on full display. Jesus is told his friend Lazarus is sick and by the time Jesus gets to him, he had been dead for four days! The sisters of Lazarus, Mary and Martha, are deeply sad about their brother’s death and come to Jesus with honesty and faith. He says “I AM the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” Jesus has power over life and death! He is fully God and has the power to save us, and He is also fully human and understands everything we go through. God understands us because God became us.
