Spirit of Adoption

Among the many gifts God gives, being adopted into His family may be the greatest of all. When we place our faith in Christ, we become part of God’s family!  In Romans 8:11-17, Paul uses two metaphors from the Roman culture—slavery and adoption—to help the church in Rome understand what it means to be “in Christ.” While these metaphors may seem unfamiliar to us in our context, Paul’s message is clear: we are part of a new family! As members of God’s family, we enjoy great privileges: we are chosen, given a new name, and have a glorious inheritance. Membership has its privileges.
